The Returning Officer has issued a Notice of Poll for the election of a Parish Councillor for Ashington Central Ward. The by-election will be held on Thursday 7th March 2024.
Three candidates have been nominated:
Andy McGregor (Liberal Democrats) Elaine Peverley (Independent) Paul Richard Wright (Labour Party) Polling stations will be open from 7:00am to 10:00pm on election day. See the Notice of Poll for the assigned polling station locations and which electors are assigned to each station.

The notice of election for the vacant Ashington Central Ward Town Councillor position has been published today, Thursday 1st February 2024.
One Town Councillor will be elected to represent the Ashington Central Ward. Nomination forms are available now, until 4pm on Friday 9th February 2024.

Ashington Town Council met last night to agree the budget for 2024/25 and the subsequent precept demand to Northumberland County Council.
The precept is the amount of money collected from the taxpayers of Ashington via their Council Tax.
Leader of Ashington Town Council, Cllr John Tully, presented a draft budget which is summarised in the accompanying charts. The Council agreed an operating budget of £946,888. Alongside this, a separate General Reserves and Contingency pot of £175k, and Ear-Marked Reserves towards the longer-term replacement of assets equalling £65k.

Ashington Town Council is excited to announce Alan Bunker as our new Allotment Officer overseeing the town’s eight allotment sites and nearly 800 allotment plots.
In this vital role, Alan will build relationships between the Council and allotment holders, promote community gardening, and ensure pleasant, thriving green spaces across Ashington. He will manage tenant agreements, inspect plots, collaborate with allotment associations, and find solutions to better serve needs on our sites.
