Welcome to day 4 of our Health & Wellness Focus Week! So far we’ve covered eating healthy and getting fit.

Ashington Town Council invites all community members to participate in the annual Great British Spring Clean running from the 15th of March to the 31st March. 

Wansbeck Community Links are part of Cygnus Support, a local counselling charity, which has been providing a very valuable therapy service for over 30 years.

I have compiled a list of local healthy eating and fitness groups and classes available in the Ashington area.

Ashington Town Council is proud to announce that it has been accredited by the Living Wage Foundation as a Living Wage Employer. We implemented this policy prior to Christmas, and as of today we can publicly share our accreditation. This means that the Town Council has committed to pay all its staff, whether they are direct employees or third-party contracted staff, at least the real Living Wage rate of £12 per hour.

This Saturday (27th January) we take on Sheffield Football Club at Woodhorn Lane.

In my community blog this week I will be focusing on health and wellness.  I’ll be highlighting local health and wellness services as well as fitness opportunities available to help you live your best life.

Funded by the Platten Trust, children across three NCEA Trust Schools in Ashington (Bishops Primary School, Thomas Bewick C of E Primary School and NCEA James Knott C of E Primary School) are engaging in a STEM and history project called ‘Ashington to the Future.’

Back in May 2023, Cambois Rowing Club received a £5,000 grant from Ashington Town Council.

Ashington Town Council originally set a target to plant 1,500 trees in 2022-2023 to combat climate change locally.
