The Union Flag

Ashington Town Council will fly the Union Flag at the War Memorial in the Memorial Garden at half-mast. The flag will be flown at half-mast until the day after the funeral, except for the period of proclamation where protocol requires a short return to full mast.

Proclamation

The King will officially be proclaimed at the Accession Council at 10.00am on Saturday 10th September 2022, at St James’s Palace.

The Accession Council will be followed by the Principal Proclamation, which will be read at 11:00am from the balcony overlooking Friary Court at St James’s Palace.

The Proclamation will be read by Garter King of Arms, accompanied by the Earl Marshal, other Officers of Arms and the Serjeants at Arms. This is the first public reading of the Proclamation.

A second Proclamation will be read in the City of London, at the Royal Exchange, at midday. Further Proclamations will be read in Belfast, Cardiff and Edinburgh.

A County Proclamation will be read by the High Sheriff (with Lord Lieutenant alongside) at 1.00pm on Sunday 11th September, on the steps of the Town Hall (Bridge Street, Morpeth will be closed to traffic during this time).
