Councillor Lawrence Henderson, Ashington Town Council
Councillor Lawrence Henderson, of Ashington Town Council, sadly passed away on Sunday 19th November 2023.
Lawrence served as a Central Ward Town Councillor for over 14 years, following the local government restructure and formation of the town council in 2009.
Lawrence was highly devoted to both residents of Ashington and the wider community. Many would recognise Lawrence as he frequently attended public meetings and surgeries supporting the Central Ward County Councillors.
During his time as a town councillor, he carried out the role of Civic Head on two occasions representing the town at numerous events and functions during this time.
Away from council duties, Lawrence served on the Tennent’s Panel for Bernicia Housing as well as being a dedicated union official championing workers’ rights in this area.
While he will be dearly missed by his fellow councillors and staff, he will leave a legacy of public service and community betterment to the town of Ashington.
