Northumberland Line Drop In Event

Northumberland Line Drop In Event

Information on Track renewal works, Hospital Level Crossing permanent closure and public information event.

The track renewal works, and permanent closure of the Hospital Crossing are essential for the development of the Northumberland Line, which aims to improve connectivity and accessibility in South East Northumberland by bringing passenger trains back into service between Ashington and Newcastle.

There will be a drop in event at Ashington Cricket Club on the 28th of June 2023, 3.30pm to 6.30pm, where our team can answer any questions, you may have about the upcoming works and the wider project.

Upcoming works - July
From 10pm Thursday 20th July to 5.30am Monday 24th July, contractors working on behalf of Northumberland County Council will be undertaking track renewals between the Hospital Level Crossing and the new Ashington Station Site.  The team will be working continuously during this time, including overnight.  There will be no access across Hospital Level Crossing and Green Lane Crossing during the works.

There will be multiple engineering trains on site throughout the works.  Unfortunately, these can be noisy and due to safety reasons will sound their horns when moving near to workers.  There may also be workers carrying out preparation works ahead of Thursday 20th of July, and immediately following the works completion on Monday 24 July, to complete checks on track stability and any minor follow up activities.
