The Ashington Male Voice Choir held their annual concert this past Saturday, May 18th at the Holy Sepulchre Church. The prestigious event was attended by the Civic Head of Ashington, Cllr Victor Bridges.

Ashington Town Council urges members of the community and residents to attend the upcoming Ashington Regeneration Programme Drop-In events to find out the plans for Ashington’s future and share their views.

Northumberland County Council will host two drop-in sessions this month for residents and businesses to explore the proposed plans for the town centre.

Event Dates: Saturday 18th May from 10am to 1pm AND Wednesday 22nd May from 4pm to 7pm. Both sessions will be held in the Arts Room at YMCA, North View.

Attendees can interact with County Council officers, Advance Northumberland representatives, and the project design consultants to discuss details on Wansbeck Square, Portland Park’s upcoming cinema and restaurants, and the Grand Corner development.

Recent figures show fly-tipping is on the rise, with a whopping 115 tonnes of illegally dumped rubbish spread over nearly 2,000 incidents in the last financial year ☹️ Not to mention an astounding 326 tonnes of general litter in public bins and found littering our streets, despite the tireless efforts of volunteers and the NCC Local Services Team who litter pick. Ashington Town Council are excited to announce plans to evaluate the feasibility of creating a new skate park and scooter facility at People’s Park in Ashington.

The proposed project, brought forward by ward Cllrs Lynne Grimshaw, Matthew Cuthbert and Bob Walkinshaw, aims to provide a state-of-the-art recreational space for local youth, fostering an active lifestyle and encouraging participation in skateboarding and scootering – skateboarding having recently gained Olympic status.
