It has been declared by the Deputy Returning Officer for Northumberland County Council, that Graeme John Wright was duly elected to the post of Councillor for the Haydon Ward of Ashington Town Council, following an election that took place on 12th October 2023.

A by-election for the office of Councillor for the Haydon Ward will be held on Thursday 12th October 2023, to elect one Councillor.  

Groundworks are putting in a bid for funding to replace the weir gates and the fish pass on the river Wansbeck.

Congratulations to Ashington Veterans and Elders Institute. Their Community Garden was awarded a Grade 5, Outstanding Certificate in the RHS Northumbria in Bloom, It’s Your Neighbourhood Awards.

The appointed External Auditor, Mazars LLP have completed our audit for the year ended 31st March 2023. Our financial page has been updated with the Notice of Conclusion and fully audited Annual Governance and Accountability Return.

The accounts are deemed in accordance with proper practice, with no matters being brought for attention that give cause for concern from a legislative or regulatory perspective. The Full Council meeting on Tuesday 26th September received the information and passed on their thanks to staff.

A Northumberland man has been fined for fly-tipping his household waste illegally in Queen Street, Ashington following an investigation by Northumberland County Council.
