Alexandra Road Play Area
Ashington Town Council has temporarily closed the Alexandra Road Play Area.
Unfortunately, the play area has suffered significant vandalism to the safety surface and until repairs can be carried out the area is unsafe to use.
CCTV does operate in this area and the matter has been reported to Northumbria Police. If any resident is aware of anyone who has caused this damage, we would encourage them to contact Northumbria Police on tel; 101or Crimestoppers on tel; 0800 555 111, quoting crime reference number; 098814Y/24.
We appreciate the closure will disappoint many children and families who use the play area, particularly as we are in the school holiday period. We do hope residents understand the Town Council’s reasoning for this decision and also share our disappointment in having to make it.
The Council will arrange for repair works to be carried out at the earliest opportunity and would encourage families to use nearby play facilities at Hirst Park till the play area can be reopened.
