Mrs Carol Brown - Heart of the Hirst
It is with sadness we share news of the passing of Mrs Carol Brown, Chair of Heart of the Hirst community group, on Friday 16 August 2024.
Carol will be well known to many Ashington residents through her work with the group. Over a number of years, Heart of the Hirst have organised many community events, supported community clean ups and provided Christmas presents for disadvantaged children in the town.
In 2019, Carol received a Civic Award from Ashington Town Council, to recognise her community work and all that she was doing to improve the lives of residents. In the photograph is Carol and her family at the Town Hall on this proud occasion.
Cllr. Mark Purvis, Business Chair of Ashington Town Council, said 'Carol was a true community champion and worked tirelessly to improve the lives of people in Ashington and she will be greatly missed'.
Carol's funeral with take place at Blyth Crematorium on Thursday 29 August, at 11.30am. Ashington Town Council offer our heartfelt condolences to Carol's family at this time.
