Ashington Town Council Boosts Local Running Club with Grant

Cllr Caroline Ball, Civic Head of Ashington, recently presented a cheque to Ashington Hirst Running Club as part of the Town Council's annual grant award program. The funding will support various initiatives and events organised by the club.

The grant will be used to cover several key areas:

  • Logistics costs for the club's popular 5-mile run, specifically to hire a professional First Aid company to ensure participant safety.
  • Support for the "Fell em Doon" festive run, including First Aid provision and the opportunity to sponsor event t-shirts for participants.
  • Investment in coaching development, with plans to train five new coaches to expand the club's capacity and expertise.

"We're delighted to support Ashington Hirst Running Club," said Cllr Ball during the cheque presentation. "Their commitment to promoting health and community spirit through running aligns perfectly with our council's goals for the town."

The running club expressed gratitude for the funding, noting that it will allow them to enhance the safety and quality of their events while also investing in the club's future through coach training.

This grant is part of Ashington Town Council's ongoing efforts to support local organisations that contribute to the community's well-being and social cohesion.
