Ashington Town Council Supports Local Scout Group with Grant

Ashington Town Council has recently shown its support for the community's youth by awarding a grant to the 1st Hirst Scout Group. Civic Head Councillor Caroline Ball had the pleasure of presenting a cheque for £500 to the group, which will contribute towards their upcoming summer camp trip to Melton Scout Camp.

The grant aims to ensure that local scouts can participate in this valuable outdoor experience, providing them with opportunities for personal growth, teamwork, and adventure. Such activities are crucial for the development of young people, fostering skills and memories that will last a lifetime.

Susan Black, Group Lead Volunteer for the 1st Hirst Scout Group, expressed her gratitude: "Thank you to Ashington Town Council for the grant. The much-needed funds will guarantee the trip goes ahead." She also extended her appreciation to Councillor Ball for personally presenting the cheque, adding, "The Leaders and Scouts enjoyed meeting her."

This financial support demonstrates Ashington Town Council's commitment to nurturing local youth organisations and providing enriching experiences for young residents. By investing in programs like the scout summer camp, the council is helping to build a stronger, more connected community.

The 1st Hirst Scout Group's trip to Melton Scout Camp promises to be an exciting adventure, made possible in part by the generosity of the local government and the dedication of volunteer leaders.
