Northumberland County Council’s Climate Change Team has arranged an event to gather different perspectives about how everyone can work together to reach the County’s carbon neutral targets. With the cost of living at the highest level for decades it is important that people understand what support is available to get them through what could be an extremely difficult winter.

Koast Radio 106.6FM is supporting the local Buzz Learning ‘SEND’ specialist school and providing it’s students with the opportunity of community radio station broadcasting.

Ashington Town Council recognise the huge achievement of Ashington AFC in reaching the 4th round of the FA Cup. As well as wishing them luck, the Council agreed to contribute £1,500 towards the 500-mile round trip for the team.

At their meeting last night, Ashington Town Council demonstrated their generosity towards the community with further funding of £2,000 and an allocation of £6,750 to support warm hubs in Ashington.

Age UK Northumberland has launched three FREE new groups to help people move whilst having fun and socialising, with the support of grant funding from RISE.

As part of the ongoing climate change initiative driven by Northumberland County Council, Duke’s Secondary School received saplings to plant at STEM Fest Net Zero back in July.

Northumberland Communities Together works with a wide network of community spaces, places and people across our county that are available to support.

The competition has again proved that Ashington has some outstanding gardeners.  This year’s entries were judged by gardening expert Mr Bob Bell, Ashington’s world champion leek grower, and Mr Chris Lang, a previous winner of the garden competition.

Plans for sustainable planting started back in March 2022. We are delighted that 6-months later we can enjoy the fruits of some very hard labour.

Planting on Station Road is lush, green and eye catching. It will change throughout the seasons. We hope that everyone will recognise and enjoy the changes, especially the young people who designed the signage, and helped convey the message of sustainable planting back in July.

As people drive into Ashington, our gateway features have impact, and we are very proud of the finished results.
