Next Friday, November 17th is BBC Children In Need day, and Ashington is set to show its community spirit at a special fundraising event in the Carpark Asda Ashington, organised by Amanda Sheldon, Asda’s Community Champion.

Ashington’s popular Christmas Trail is back again this holiday season, kicking off at the town’s Christmas Light Switch-On event on Thursday, November 30th.

Ashington Town Council has awarded a £500 grant to the Wansbeck Christmas Campaign in support of their efforts to provide gifts for struggling families across the Wansbeck area this festive season.
The grant was used to shop for gifts from the campaign’s Christmas list at the B&M store on Freeman Way. Store employees Michael and Kelly provided first class assistance in the shopping effort and were full of Christmas cheer. The purchased gifts were delivered directly to volunteer Vicky, ready for sorting and distributing mid-December.

Northumberland County Council has announced the extension of the Northumberland County Council (Consumption of Alcohol) Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) for a further 3 years. The PSPO aims to prevent alcohol-related anti-social behaviour in public spaces.
