Ashington Town Council extends its sincere thanks to all the residents and organisations who participated in the Great Big Green Week event this past Tuesday at the weekly outdoor market on Station Road. The buzzing atmosphere and community enthusiasm for sustainable living was inspiring!
“We’re so grateful to the many fantastic local groups who hosted stalls and shared invaluable information on reducing energy use, increasing recycling and reuse, growing food sustainably, and protecting our regional wildlife and natural habitats,” said Chair of Ashington’s Climate Change Committee, Cllr Sophie Robinson. “The event was a wonderful demonstration of our community’s commitment to taking climate action.”

At the Ashington Town Council annual meeting last night, Tuesday 28th May 2024, Cllr Caroline Ball was elected as the new Civic Head, with Cllr Sophie Robinson elected Deputy Civic Head.
