Ashington's Free Family Swim Sessions Make a Big Splash!

Ashington Town Council is thrilled to announce the resounding success of its summer free family swim sessions, with over 100 young people and their families diving into the fun at Ashington Leisure Centre.

The initiative, launched in August and supported by Places Leisure, provided free swimming opportunities every Saturday throughout the summer holidays. The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive, with families enjoying quality time together.

The success of the swim sessions follows on the heels of another popular Youth Advisory Committee initiative - the Tuesday Market activities. Throughout the summer, these events offered a diverse range of free entertainment for young people, from engaging crafts, media and wildlife to exhilarating breakdancing sessions. The variety of activities ensured there was something for everyone, further demonstrating the Council’s commitment to providing accessible, enjoyable experiences for Ashington’s youth.

Building on this success, Ashington Town Council is excited to announce that the free swim sessions will return during the October half-term break. This time, families will have two opportunities during the week to make a splash. We will also have a trick or treat trail and some spectacularly spooky stalls on the Tuesday Market.

The Town Council extends its heartfelt thanks to Places Leisure and the staff at Ashington Leisure Centre for their support and cooperation in making these sessions possible.

Dates and times for the October half-term free swim sessions will be announced soon. Families are encouraged to keep an eye on the Ashington Town Council’s social media channels and website for updates.

We would love to hear from you. For more information or to provide feedback, please contact Ashington Town Council at admin@ashingtontowncouncil.gov.uk or call (01670) 624521.
