Ashington Town Council Approves Community Grants

In a meeting of the Finance and General Services Committee held on Tuesday, 9th July, Ashington Town councillors approved a series of small grants to support local community groups and initiatives.

The 1st Hirst Scout Group received £500 to contribute towards their upcoming summer camp trip to Melton Scout Camp. This funding will help ensure that local scouts can participate in this valuable outdoor experience.

Ashington Camera Club was awarded £500 to assist with the costs of bringing in judges for competitions and guest speakers. This grant will help the club continue to provide engaging activities and learning opportunities for photography enthusiasts in the area.

The Friends of Ashington Community Woods secured £500 to fund a new notice board. This addition will improve communication and information sharing about events and activities in the community woods, enhancing public engagement with this local natural resource.

Seaton Vale Neighbourhood Watch was granted £500 to support their Summer Fete. This contribution will help cover the costs associated with organising this community event, which aims to bring residents together and promote neighbourhood safety awareness.

These grants, totalling £2,000, demonstrate the council's commitment to supporting diverse local initiatives that enrich community life in Ashington. The beneficiaries represent a range of interests, from youth development and artistic pursuits to environmental appreciation and community safety.

Local residents interested in learning more about these initiatives or how to apply for future grant funding are encouraged to contact the Ashington Town Council for further information or visit; Ashington Town Council - Grants and Funding
