Neighbourhood Services Officers, Mark and Ryan Beat the Heat: Swift Bin Reinstalls Keep Ashington Tidy

We are pleased to commend the swift response of our Neighbourhood Services Officers (NSOs) when faced with vandalism to several Haydon ward litter bins. Our team demonstrated that we won't be deterred from maintaining our town's cleanliness and despite the sweltering heat sprang into action, swiftly reinstalling and upgrading litter bins in the Haydon Ward. Their quick response ensures that these isolated incidents of vandalism do not impact our services for long.

Despite the hot weather, our NSO team worked efficiently to replace the affected bins. The new installations are now secured on concrete plinths for improved durability.

This swift action demonstrates our commitment to one of the Council's priorities 'Keeping the town’s streets and estates clean and litter free'. With over 400 litter bins in the town, you are never far from one and we appreciate everyone's efforts to use them. We have a planned programme of replacing older litter bins, and schedule 24 each year.

Attached are some photos of the newly installed bins. We thank our hardworking NSOs for their prompt response and dedication to keeping Ashington tidy.
