Ashington's Light-up to Christmas
Although winds and rain came down on the Ashington Christmas lights switch-on, nothing could dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd as they gathered for the annual event. Hailed as the “best we have had in a long time”, the lights were accompanied by Father Christmas on his sleigh and a few words from the team at local community radio station, Koast Radio. Everyone agreed the evening was a spectacular start to the season’s festivities.
Because of the weather the planned festive stall activities had to be cancelled, which was a huge disappointment for all those who had prepared for the event. We genuinely believe that this would have been the best switch-on ever, because of the variety of ideas brought along by community groups, organisations, and businesses, who wholeheartedly supported our wish for a ‘free’ festive family event.
LUKLUK Productions did get some great video footage and interviews, and Ashington Camera Club were about taking photographs.
