Funding to warm hearts, and hubs

Funding to warm hearts, and hubs

At their meeting last night, Ashington Town Council demonstrated their generosity towards the community with further funding of £2,000 and an allocation of £6,750 to support warm hubs in Ashington.

In July, the Council awarded small grants of £500 each to Ashington Community Litter Project, Cambois Rowing Club, Friends of Ashington Community Woods, and Ashington RVS Social Centre.

The opportunity to apply for a small grant of £500 was invited again in September. Those groups receiving £500 in this round are The Ashington Pantomime Group, Ashington Veterans & Elders Association, Ashington Camera Club, and the newly constituted TEAM Residents Association in North Seaton.

The grants contribute to promoting and protecting the quality of life and well-being of residents, and help local organisations maintain and develop their services, facilities, and activities.

Over the last couple of months, the Council has also received reports from Annual Grant Aid Funding recipients: Wansbeck Valley Foodbank, Northumberland Community Bank, and last night the YMCA and Northumberland Citizens Advice. The Council is pleased to be able to offer larger annual grants to organisations serving Ashington and welcome opportunities to keep in touch and work together.

As colder weather looms and residents try to keep warm, whilst at the same time avoid hefty bills, Ashington Town Council is keen to mobilise funding to support warm hubs. At the meeting last night, it was agreed to make funding of £6,750 available and to liaise with Northumberland Communities Together and Community Action Northumberland on how best to achieve this for the residents of Ashington.
