Ashington Town Council Welcomes New Town Clerk
Ashington Town Council welcomes our new Town Clerk & Responsible Financial Officer Sarah Eden.
Sarah commenced employment at the Town Council on 6 December and replaces the current Town Clerk Mike Slaughter who is retiring after twelve years in the role. Sarah was previously Town Clerk & Responsible Financial Officer at Prudhoe Town Council where she worked for over 10 years.
Mike is retiring after 40 years in local government and has been the Town Clerk since the Town Council was established in 2009.
Mike reflected ‘It has been a privilege and honour to work with the town council, its voluntary members and many organisations, groups and residents who work tirelessly and have the best interests of the town at heart. I’ve seen many changes over the years and no doubt there will be more to come. I wish Sarah and the town council all the very best for the future and working together to see positive change. I’m an old Ashington lad and will never stop reading, thinking and talking about Ashington.’
Sarah adds,’I’m really pleased to have been welcomed as the new Town Clerk to the town of Ashington. I look forward to working with the team of councillors and staff and getting to know more about the town.’
