Ashington Town Council has taken delivery of a new electrical vehicle to support the maintenance of the town’s assets including play areas, bus shelters and allotments.

Northumberland County Council’s Climate Change Team has arranged an event to gather different perspectives about how everyone can work together to reach the County’s carbon neutral targets. Our nearest event is being held at Blyth on Wednesday 16th November 2022, from 6:00pm until 7:30pm, and tickets can be booked via eventbright, using the link provided.

The competition has again proved that Ashington has some outstanding gardeners. This year’s entries were judged by gardening expert Mr Bob Bell, Ashington’s world champion leek grower, and Mr Chris Lang, a previous winner of the garden competition.

Plans for sustainable planting started back in March 2022. We are delighted that 6-months later we can enjoy the fruits of some very hard labour.
Planting on Station Road is lush, green and eye catching. It will change throughout the seasons. We hope that everyone will recognise and enjoy the changes, especially the young people who designed the signage, and helped convey the message of sustainable planting back in July.
As people drive into Ashington, our gateway features have impact, and we are very proud of the finished results.

This September, people across the country will come together to take positive action with their communities; hosting events and activities to inspire others to step up for climate, nature and people, and call on decision makers to create a safer, greener future.
As part of Great Big Green Week, we will be hosting an event on Tuesday 27th September when we will take a pitch at the Ashington Market on Station Road. We will be joined by representatives from the NCC Climate Change Team, Groundwork NE & Cumbria, and Citizens Advice Northumberland.
