Ashington Town Council is proud to announce the formation of its new Youth Advisory Committee, aimed at amplifying young voices in local governance. The committee’s primary focus will be the creation of an Ashington Town Council Youth Forum, designed to engage young people in the democratic process and give them a direct line to influence town council decision-making.

Ashington Town Council is carrying out essential housekeeping and maintenance work on local play areas, aligning with our priority of ‘improving the environment and providing a safe and pleasant place to live’. These activities are being carried out in preparation for the busy school holiday period.

Our dedicated Neighbourhood Services Officers, Mark Air and Ryan Appleby, have worked hard to upkeep several play areas, including Peoples Park and North Seaton Colliery. Their efforts demonstrate our workforce’s commitment to maintaining our community spaces. We’re also working collaboratively with teams from Northumberland County Council Neighbourhood Services, who have provided valuable assistance with some of the maintenance tasks.

Ashington Town Council Commends Northumberland County Council Neighbourhood Services Team

Ashington Town Council is pleased to share the ongoing efforts of the Northumberland County Council Neighbourhood Services Team, funded through a significant Partnership Agreement. This agreement, underpinned by Ashington Town Council, supports a dedicated workforce of five operatives, including the essential vehicles and machinery required to maintain and enhance our community environment.

The primary responsibilities of this workforce include emptying public litter bins, street cleansing, and responding to incidents of fly-tipping. However, these dedicated operatives have on occasion been redirected to tackle other pressing issues such as weed spraying, clearances, hedge maintenance, and strimming. This adaptability ensures that they can provide comprehensive support to the core workforce, addressing a wide range of environmental issues in Ashington. We have included various before and after photographs shared at our last two Partnership board meetings.
