Festive Shopfronts Shine for Ashington’s Christmas Window Display Competition
Shops across four popular shopping areas in Ashington are infusing holiday spirit into their window displays for a friendly decoration competition. The contest spans fourteen local businesses on Station Road, Lintonville Terrace, Woodhorn Road and Laburnum Terrace.
Owners have gotten creative with tinsel-trimmed Christmas trees, handmade gingerbread houses, strung fairy lights, and more to catch the eyes of shoppers passing by. Ribbons, bows, poinsettias and evergreen accents adorn the windows. Some displays incorporate winter scenes with faux snow-dusted pines and presents. The Goal is to evoke the festive mood through vibrant colours and unique holiday-themed decor.
The window displays spark cheer in the neighbourhood and highlight local shops ranging from bakeries to boutiques. Councillor Victor Bridges will judge the most artistic, cheerful and well-executed displays on December 18th. The winner will receive a chocolate hamper for staff. Until then, the dazzling window scenes encourage townspeople to meander the contest route and enjoy the Christmas spirit permeating Ashington’s shops.
