Groundwork North East & Cumbria and The Friends of Ashington Community Woods have funding, from Coalfields Regeneration Trust, to run a 9 week training course for 18-25year olds.

 

The young people will gain an NOCN Level 1 focusing on employability along with a range of practical skills at Ashington Community Woods. The course commences in September 2017.

 

£150 will be made available for each young person towards personal and protective wear and on completion of the course they will be offered up £150 of extra training of their choice (in the countryside sector e.g. chainsaw maintenance and cross cutting / green woodwork, first aid etc.)

 

There are 10 places available with the focus is on young people from Ashington Central and Hirst wards.
