Come along and celebrate the Northumberland Miners’ Picnic 2019 on Saturday 8 June.
The Picnic is a jam-packed day out for all the family at Woodhorn Museum in Ashington. The Picnic is rooted in our local heritage with a contemporary twist.
The programme this year includes Brass Marras, The Northumbrian Ranters, pit-pop folk-rockers Dennis, Ladies of Midnight Blue and special headline act Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze.
The Picnic commences with the poignant Miners’ Memorial Service at 10.30am. There will be family friendly activities throughout the day including an art & crafts tent, circus skills and face painting.
Discover some of the region’s tastiest treats and unique crafts in the Northumberland Picnic Market which will be located in the historic Workshop Galleries.
Northumberland Miners’ Picnic is free, but parking charge applies. Picnic Day is one of the special selected community days when the Woodhorn Museum Membership Scheme does not apply, but you can find full details about the Membership Scheme at www.museumsnorthumberland.org.uk/become-a-member/
Additional parking will be at the former ALCAN/Rio Tinto site with a Park & Ride service at a cost of £5 per car. A free shuttle bus will also be available from Ashington Leisure Centre and Blue Badge/Accessible Parking will be available at the Museum.
This event is supported by Ashington Town Council, Arts Council England and Northumberland County Council.
