The Great British Spring Clean Campaign for 2020, organised by Keep Britain Tidy, was planned to take place from the 20 March till the 13 April 2020.
As in previous years Ashington Town Council had organised a number of community litter picks to support the campaign across the town.
However, following the Coronavirus outbreak, Keep Britain Tidy has decided to cancel the Great British Spring Clean Campaign. However, they plan to reschedule a similar campaign from 11-27 September 2020.
Ashington Town Council has therefore cancelled all the litter picks that were planned to take place in the town during week commencing the 30 March. The Town Council would like to thank all of the individuals and organisations who had committed to take part on the Campaign and apologies for any inconvenience caused. However, in cancelling the litter picks we recognise that public health is of paramount importance.
The Town Council will organise litter picks in September to support the Keep Britain Tidy Campaign.
