My name is Stephen Fenwick and I have lived in Ashington for most of my life and attended Ashington High School.
I served for six years in Her Majesty's Armed Forces before returning to the area to commence employment with Castle Morpeth Borough Council. I moved to Wansbeck District Council and then Northumberland County Council, following the forming of the single unitary authority.
For the past twenty years I have been a trade union activist and I am currently a member of the UNITE union holding the positions of Political Officer and Union Learning Representative. I am currently working with Northumberland County Council to secure apprenticeships across the county for young people.
I am a member of the Labour Party, representing the College Ward on the Town Council. I am interested in the local environment and will be campaigning for cleaner footpaths, better road repairs and ensuring that our parks and open spaces are kept to a good standard. I will address any concerns raised by residents and our local community groups and associations.
