My name is Marjorie Chambers and I was born in Newcastle upon Tyne but was raised and educated in Ashington and Newbiggin by the Sea as well as living in the USA.

I worked in both retail and social care as well as doing voluntary work. I am proud to say that I have been a Town Councillor since 2013 and was Chair of the Environment & Amenities Committee. I also serve on several outside committees, working with Northumberland County Council Councillors and staff, businesses and community groups.

I am an active member of the Labour Party and GMB Union as well as Ashington Town Team and the Friends of Josephine Butler School Group.

I am proud of Ashington and though it has gone through a period of decline there has been major investment in recent years. I will work to encourage more businesses to invest here and create more employment opportunities. I would like to see more affordable social housing, cleaner streets and increased provision of activities for young people. I am also keen to promote health and wellbeing for our vulnerable and elderly residents.

My other joys in life, when I have time, are walking my dogs, reading, baking for fund raising events and spending time with my grandchildren.

Please feel free to contact me with any problems, issues or suggestions.
