At a meeting of Ashington Town Council, four residents were honoured with Citizens Awards.
The special meeting was held on Thursday (25 April), at Ashington Town Hall, and Councillors formally agreed nominations for the presentation of Ashington Citizen’s Awards to:
Mr Fred MacKenzie
“in recognition of the many year’s tireless, dedicated work and outstanding achievements and successes with the Parkhead & Wansbeck Powersports Group”
Mr Stuart Middleton
“in recognition of outstanding personal achievements in motorsport in recent years and national and international success”
Mr Luke Tait
“in recognition of outstanding achievement in your appointment to the role as a Lord Lieutenant Cadet for the Duchess of Northumberland”
Mrs Carol Brown
“in recognition of tireless and dedicated work with the Heart of the Hirst Tenant & Resident Group and the wider local community”
The awardees were joined by family members for the event held in the Council Chamber.
Wansbeck MP Mr Ian Lavery came along to the evening and thanked the awardees for the contribution they make to improving and promoting the town locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Mr Lavery also highlighted the work carried out by many other residents with the aim of making Ashington a better place for everyone.
Cllr. Marjorie Chambers, Civic Head of Ashington, added that the evening celebrated the very best of skills, talents, commitment and dedication of Ashington residents.
