Summer is on its way and there are a number of events coming up in Ashington. 

To celebrate Northumberland Day 2019, a day of live music has been lined up with local bands at the White House Unique Social Club, on High Market, with doors opening from 1pm. For more information visit Ashington-to-rock-on-northumberland-day-2019

June always sees the staging of two major community events in the town, the Northumberland Miners’ Picnic, at Woodhorn Museum, and Ashington Fayre Day, at the the rear of Wansbeck Square.  An event will also take place this year to remember the 75th Anniversary of D-Day as well as bringing to mind those who currently serve in the Armed Forces.

The Ashington Branch of the Royal British Legion have organised a Service which will take place on Thursday 6 June at the Ashington Memorial Garden on Kenilworth Road. The ‘Picnic’ is a great family day out and will take place on Saturday 8 June.  There will be a day full day of activities and music, including a performance from the ever popular Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze as well as art & crafts, circus skills, face painting and a wide variety of tasty treats and drinks. Ashington Fayre Day will take place on Sunday 30 June, from 10.30am till 4.30pm, at the Wansbeck Square car park and adjacent grassed area. The Fayre will include fairground rides, live music, market stalls and a range of family entertainment as well as a number of new attractions this year. The Fayre is brought together by a dedicated working group of local community organisations and volunteers working alongside Ashington Town Council including Bad Apples North East, YMCA Northumberland, Ashington Cricket Club, Ashington WI and Northumberland County Council. In July, Woodhorn Museum host two popular events, a Vintage Car Rally and Invasion X. The Car Rally will take place on Sunday 14 July and on Sunday 21 July you can meet a host of science fiction characters ranging from Daleks to Doctors at Invasion X.  For more information visit Car-rally and Invasion-x

In August, a Dog Show & Community Party will take place in Hirst Park. The event has been organised by Heart of the Hirst Tenant & Residents Group and will take place on Sunday 4 August running from 10am till 4pm. For more information visit Dog-show-and-party-in-hirst-park
